What Is An Event Sponsorship Broker?

In the dynamic world of events and partnerships, the concept of a sponsorship broker has emerged as a key player in connecting brands, musicians, event producers, and influencers with the right sponsors. This role, often misunderstood, is pivotal for those looking to elevate their events and create memorable experiences that transform attendees into raving fans. But what exactly does a sponsorship broker do, and how does Brandie Weaver Partnerships redefine this role? Let’s dive in.

What Is An Event Sponsorship Broker?

The Role of a Sponsorship Broker

At its core, a sponsorship broker acts as a mediator between two parties: those organizing events (be it musicians, brands, or event producers) and potential sponsors. The goal is to find a perfect match, ensuring that the sponsor aligns with the event’s mission, values, and target audience. This alignment is crucial, as the right sponsorship can enhance the event’s credibility, extend its reach, and ensure its financial viability.

Who Should Consider a Sponsorship Broker?

Anyone looking to elevate their event with external funding and support should consider partnering with a sponsorship broker. This includes:

  • Event Producers: Those organizing festivals, conferences, or other large-scale events seeking to enhance their offering with brand partnerships.
  • Brands: Companies aiming to expand their reach by associating with events that align with their target demographic.
  • Musicians and Influencers: Artists and social media personalities looking to connect with brands for tours, launches, or special events.

A sponsorship broker can bridge the gap between these parties, leveraging their network and expertise to find a sponsorship that benefits both sides.

Brandie Weaver Partnerships: Not Your Traditional Sponsorship Broker

Brandie Weaver Partnerships distinguishes itself from traditional sponsorship brokers in several key ways. Firstly, we do not operate on commission. This significant departure from the norm allows us to focus entirely on securing sponsorships that truly align with your event’s mission and values, rather than being driven by the potential for commission.

Beyond Sponsorship: A Partnership Philosophy

At Brandie Weaver Partnerships, we view your event as a large-scale brand partnership. To us, who sponsors your event speaks volumes about its caliber, publicity, and eventual success. We delve deep into the world of brand partnerships, leveraging our extensive understanding to ensure that the sponsors we bring to the table are more than just funders—they are true partners aligned with your event’s ethos.

Should Sponsorship Brokers Be Paid on Commission?

The traditional model of compensating sponsorship brokers on a commission basis has its merits, incentivizing brokers to secure high-value deals. However, this model can sometimes lead to mismatches between events and sponsors, with brokers potentially prioritizing quantity over quality.

Our philosophy at Brandie Weaver Partnerships challenges this model. We believe that every client is different and requires a tailored strategy. We use both fixed-rate and commission-base rates. This ensures that we are always putting your event’s best interests at the forefront, seeking partnerships that truly resonate with your mission and values.

Brandie Weaver

Founder and Head Strategist

Once upon a time, I was a 25-year-old driven, hungry female sitting behind a desk in an alcohol distributor office. I answered a craigslist ad (Yes! This was a way of life for us entrepreneurs at the time) for someone who needed an event coordinator and a sponsorship salesperson.

I had been planning parties since I was 15 years old and I had a marketing degree so I convinced him I was the woman for the job.  This is how my “side hustle” began. I had never sold a sponsorship in my life, but I knew I worked at the liquor company so I had an edge over most people.

I dove in! I mean I really dove in and taught myself everything I could about sponsorships. At that time there really wasn’t a ton of information out there. I researched packages for hours on hours trying to come up with the most creative packages I could.

Little did I know that creating the packages was just the beginning of my long uphill battle. I spent ten years independently selling sponsorships at the local and national level for a professional boxing and MMA company. I did this while working full-time in the alcohol industry, getting an MBA, and partying like a rockstar!

In 2017 I saw a Facebook Post looking for an intern to work at a music festival. My first love has always been music so I responded to that post and continued to follow up until I got the meeting. I obtained the opportunity to work on my first music festival in Key West selling sponsorships.  I was working full time selling liquor at a liquor wholesaler, selling pro boxing and MMA sponsorships, and now I was finally selling something I was truly passionate about.

I left the liquor company and started my own consulting company in 2018. Fast forward to today my team and I have sold over 4 million dollars in sponsorships for events and individuals. We have produced over 40 events for brands, companies, festivals, and musicians.  I have built my brand on doing honest deals and creating intimate experiences that BUILD RELATIONSHIPS that LAST!
